About

BlueCargo is a venture-backed tech start-up based in Los Angeles with the mission of bringing efficiency and transparency to the supply chain and the lucrative U.S drayage market that worths $60 billion a year.

Our web-platform helps trucking companies, shippers and logistics providers move containers (full and empties) faster in and out of marine port terminals. Since our funding in 2018 (Y Combinator, 1984, Greenbay Ventures, etc.), we help 300+ freight dispatchers who use the platform every day and we’re just getting started.

  • Product: Web-platform
  • Current technical stack: Python/Django (Backend), React/JS (Frontend), AWS services (Lambda, RDS, S3), PostgreSQL (Database), CircleCI and other continuous integration tools
  • Current technical team: 2 (objective: x3 by the end of 2020) - Engineering-driven team (agile cycles, JIRA, GitHub, daily standup, knowledge session, peer-programming, test-driven development, continuous integration, serverless architecture, etc.)

Job Description

In this role, you will be building the platform technology and infrastructure that drives BlueCargo’s product delivery. You will be developing the web-platform and be responsible for:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable and reliable code. You will tackle problems relating to critical services and prevent problem recurrence
  • Designing and developing data sourcing services under different format (file exchange, API, scraping, web crawling, ...)
  • Managing build/deployment pipelines for continuous integration and continuous delivery - to improve the quality and availability of BlueCargo’s solution
  • Providing ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with different players internally: data scientist, product officer and other engineers to achieve elegant solutions
  • Managing and building the technical team (individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables + recruiting)

Preferred Experience

In addition to the following technical skills, we are looking for PROBLEM SOLVERS with an entrepreneurial mindset.

  • 2+ years of full stack production engineering experience
  • Strong proficiency in Python
  • Experience in developing and deploying software in a rapid cycle using Agile methodologies and code versioning tools (Git)
  • Experience with Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (AWS)
  • Experience with database configuration/administration (PostgreSQL)
  • Experience in JavaScript and thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles
  • Experience with popular React.js workflows (such as Flux or Redux) and libraries (e.g. Material-UI)
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web-scraping
  • Interest in data science and machine learning
  • Be proactive, creative and eager to learn
  • English fluent
